All staff participates in ongoing by-monthly training and receive direct supervision throughout their employment. All staff hired have an extensive background check. It includes drug and alcohol testing upon hire and randomly throughout employment, a DMV background check, and a check with the bureau of adult and elderly services.

EssentiALZ Certification through the Alzheimer’s Association
Our team also completes the essentiALZ program, which provides core dementia care training. The training focuses on person-centered care, the changes to thinking skills as dementia progresses, how those changes impact behavior, and how to understand behavior as a communication. It also covers specific care topics like making a connection, eating solutions, pain, and discomfort indicators, wandering, falls, and redirection and distraction behavior therapies.
Through completing the program, our staff imbibes techniques for caring for people with dementia. They also become recognized as someone with a basic understanding of symptoms of Alzheimer’s and other dementias and demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based dementia care practices, promoted in the nationally recognized Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations.
